In 2020, LIGENTEC established a unique partnership with X-FAB, a leading European foundry with 200 mm automotive-qualified CMOS manufacturing lines.
Since then, LIGENTEC manufactures PIC’s for prototyping, pilot production and volume production in a 200 mm industrial CMOS line in Europe. Through the LIGENTEC-X-FAB partnership, customers benefit from X-FAB’s production-grade process control, statistical process control (SPC), and medical and automotive qualification standards — without leaving the European supply chain.
In 2025, LIGENTEC and X-FAB demonstrated a scalable path for heterogeneous integration and jointly invested in future platform capabilities. In 2026, LIGENTEC expanded its offering to Silicon Photonics by serving as the primary customer interface for X-FAB’s XPH90 SOI platform.
For customers in defence, space, quantum, and critical infrastructure, the fully European supply chain — LIGENTEC R&D and process definition in Switzerland, France, and Belgium; PIC production with X-FAB in Europe — eliminates non-European fabrication risks from their supply chain.
