One process, MPW to volume — no redesign required
Yes. What you prototype is what you manufacture.
LIGENTEC uses the same qualified 200 mm silicon nitride platform for MPW prototyping, pilot production, and volume manufacturing, enabling a seamless path from proof of concept to commercial deployment. SiN deposition, lithography, etch, and cladding steps are identical at every volume. The PDK and design rules are the same — there is no separate production PDK.
The scale-up path has three structured tiers: MPW (10s–100s of chips, shared wafer cost, ~15 runs/year); pilot production (>2,000 chips, dedicated run); volume production (>10,000 chips). Moving between tiers is a commercial and logistics change — wafer quantities, supply agreements, yield-based production planning — not a technical or design change. No re-spin, no re-qualification.
DRC-clean designs submitted for MPW runs are production-ready by definition. LIGENTEC’s process engineers are available during the design phase to review layouts for manufacturability, particularly for tight-tolerance components such as directional couplers and high-Q resonators.
In short: if your design is qualified on a LIGENTEC MPW run, it is already built on the same technology foundation used for production.
