Explore the full potential of active components on silicon nitride in this exclusive free webinar hosted by LIGENTEC. From thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) modulators to high-performance photodetectors and semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOA), this session will take a deep dive into the latest integration technologies available on the mature SiN platform — and how they can accelerate your next-generation photonic integrated circuit design.

Silicon nitride has long been the platform of choice for ultra-low-loss passive photonics. Now, with LIGENTEC LABS, the integration of active components on silicon nitride is becoming a reality — opening the door to fully hybrid, high-performance photonic circuits built on a single, production-ready foundry platform.

Over the course of this 60-minute session, our speakers will walk you through three key active component technologies and their practical integration on SiN:

TFLN Modulator Technology Discover how thin-film lithium niobate on silicon nitride delivers broadband electro-optic modulation across O and C bands, with insertion losses below 0.7 dB on-chip and bandwidth exceeding 100 GHz. Learn about black-box PDK components, RF design considerations, and adiabatic tapers for seamless mode transitions.

Photodetector Integration Learn how photodetectors integrated on the SiN platform offer a wavelength range of 1260–1620 nm, responsivity up to 0.85 A/W, and bandwidth above 10 GHz — with a clear roadmap to even higher speeds. We will cover design flexibility, electrical interconnect options, and applications spanning sensing, communications, and quantum.

Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers (SOA) Understand how III-V material integration with SiN enables on-chip optical gain — powering hybrid external cavity lasers with sub-kHz linewidth, over 200 mW output power, and more than 170 nm of tunability. This segment will cover signal amplification, regeneration, and the integration of gain sections into active photonic circuits.

Meet the Speakers

This webinar will be led by two experienced technical experts from LIGENTEC:

Henry Francis — Technical Sales Manager Henry brings deep knowledge of LIGENTEC’s photonic integration platforms and has guided numerous design teams through the transition from passive to active SiN photonics.

Stijn Cuyvers — Technical Sales & Project Manager Stijn specializes in the technical architecture of hybrid photonic circuits and has hands-on experience with the end-to-end integration of active components on silicon nitride.

Who Should Attend This webinar is ideal for photonics engineers, PIC designers, and R&D teams exploring active-passive integration, next-generation modulator and detector technologies, or hybrid laser architectures on silicon nitride.
